The dress

It seems so long ago now that this dress first came into my head and this morning I finally got to photograph it.
I also made the headband, dyed the gloves and made the flowers on them and dyed the tights (see them beforehand here: Dyeing for a little pink) and did Emma's make up this morning.
During the project I looked at Luella, Cecil Beaton and James 'Athenian' Stuart as well as hydrangeas.
I'm really happy with my design but before this course I had only ever made one garment, a pair of shorts from a ready made pattern when I was 13, and my inexperience shows. Practice shall make perfect.
I was given the colour scheme of grey and pink but was determined to use a floral and so bought my own fabrics.
Doesn't Emmy here make a lovely model. The pin tucks on the straps are inspired by the Columns of the Doric Temple at Shugborough Estate.

Old style couture pose!
Having found that the ribbon I had meticulously box pleated didn't add anything to the dress I remembered that I had originally been planning a headpiece and bought a plain alice band.

It is lovely and I agree with what everyone else has said. I think if the colours were punchier it would have been extra nice :)

very pretty, I like how the colours in the print are echoed throughout the rest of the dress (and indeed the whole outfit.)
Very good attention to detail!
