"More people are breathing aerosol than oxygen"

I've been vaguely aware of the Musical hairspray due to television performances and the publicity back when the film came out in 2007, but it was a blog post by the lovely Where is Harriet? (one of my floral contest winners!) in which the dresses won me over and convinced me to borrow a copy. It's not going to be one of my most favourite musicals but it's certainly worth watching and is rather cheerful, though still very much aware of deeper issues of the time.
Fashion wise my favourite scene was the song 'The New Girl in Town' featuring three fabulous floral frocks. Though the film is set in the 60s most of the characters are still dressed very '50s' with their sweet full skirted frocks, particuarly the 'Nicest Kids in Town dancers'. Oh how I want to raid the wardrobe department!
Hairspray inspired vintage style
The hair is big, very big, though apparently nothing on the Broadway version!
