Collectif: a fashion emergency solved vintage style

Out clothes shopping in London my lovely friend Emma suffered a somewhat unfortunate wardrobe malfunction with the zip of her vintage dress and was rescued by my recently acquired floral coat. However we couldn't have her boiling in the heat all day and I recalled a nearby boutique which I hadn't had the time to go in on a previous visit to the city. Fortunately my sense of geography pulled through for once and she was soon trying on a host of delightful dresses.
Dolores Doll Hibiscus
Dolores Doll Paris Print
Dolores Doll Plain Red
Regina Doll Mini Polka in Red
Collectif stocks the most wonderful range of 40s and 50s inspired clothing from size 8 to 22. Emma fell for the Dolores Doll Hibiscus dress above and I think we might be going back for a fabulous underskirt to put under it (it works with and without for two different looks) and possibly the Paris print version of the dress for her, and as they're the best value good quality underskirts I've seen I might just have to get one for myself to twirl round in. The hibiscus dress saved the day and now sits in Emma's top three favourite frocks of all time, which is quite an accolade!
Many different styles of vintage inspired reproduction garments live at Collectif, from dresses to jackets and cardigans coming in a marvelous variety of colours and prints, to belts, jewellery and bags. You could go for a full on rockabilly doll or pin up look or mix the pieces with modern ones for a new twist.
We went to the Covent Garden store at Covent Garden Shop at 37 Endell Street, London, WC2H 9EE open Mon-Wed 10:00-19:00, Thurs 11:00- 20:00, Fri 10:00-19:00, Sat 10:00-19:00 and Sun12:00-18:00.
They have another store in Camden at Unit 25 Stables Market, Chalk Farm Road, London, NW1 8AA open Mon-Fri : 10:00-18:30 and Sat-Sunday 10:00-19:00. You can also shop at http://www.collectif.co.uk/
