Zoë Jordan's AW12 show was a suave affair completed with the tip of a wide brimmed jaunty cordobes hat, created in collaboration with Jeffrey Portman millinery. In the garments Jordan showcased her knack for choosing a rich variety of textures from weighty wool to floaty lace, often juxtaposed within just one catwalk look. I was particularly taken with the heavy jewel toned laces.
Sleek, graphic silhouettes were contrasted with oversized cosy ones such as the cocoon coat. Whilst an effortless, relaxed feel prevailed there was also a huge feminine emphasis on the waist as seen in teeny structured corset details in suede and leather and cinched in chunky belts.
Jordan looked to the weathered lands of Andalucia, Spain for inspiration. The region which sits on the cusp of Europe and Africa and which is home to an Alhambra fortress. In the fabrics lay the rich warm tones of the bricks of the Moorish palace as well as the silvery grey of the mountains and bleached tones of a white washed town in crisp ivory and a stand out snake skin jacquard, creating a very earthy and natural colour palette.
Amongst all this there was an urban sports luxe feel in the jackets, snuggly jumpers and the odd pair of mini shorts. The modern refinement of the Jordan girl feels well travelled this season but is also just as at home pounding the streets of London, staying true to the carefree spirit of the brand.
