I was really sad to be unable to attend Sorapol's theatrical AW12 show last month and therefore was absolutely delighted to find the collection at the Blow PR press day. Being the millinery geek I am was immediately drawn to the intricate and fantastical hats which most definitely deserve a post in their own right!
The collection is inspired by the Russian Revolution. In it we can see military helmet shapes but also symbols of monarchy and the Tsars in the metal crown and extravagant references to precious materials such as pearls and gold, even if the metal of the crown sits tarnished by conflict. There is so much beauty in Russia, such as the stunning architecture, but there is also a brutality in the landscape's frozen conditions.
I absolutely love the excessively imaginative aesthetic of this label paired with a keen attention to detail and embellishment, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what Sorapol has in store for the future.

LOVE the pearl helmet with revolutionary red star. So ironic and yet beautiful.
