Inspired by the Georgian conviction in the bad luck brought by a broken mirror, for me this sharp collection also feels very futuristic with clothes for a strong survivor, challenging fear and overcoming it. Lako Bukia's AW12 collection at Vauxhall Fashion Scout decadently shimmered with shining silvers standing out against a base note of black, like stars twinkling in the night sky.
Soft sheer fabrics and almost fluffy ones contrasted with tough but smooth leathers. Then the magnificent finale gown offered the ultimate juxtaposition in the form of broken glass upon delicate chiffon. I particlarly loved the fabrics with crackle effects inspired by a shattered subject matter, but also reminding me of barren rock formations and I think it would be amazing to shoot these clothes against some of nature's fiercest structures.
Graphic shard like panels were also striking, cleverly shaped around the curving body. There were plenty of beautifully cut sensual sheers and the shapes were very much about showcasing the female form throughout. I adored the swishy, feminine skirts which sat alongside the slick pencil skirts. In contrast to the close fitting body con pieces also sat snuggly oversized wool coats.
In the collection Bukia has successfully mixed the daring concept pieces with more wearable ones which can add a little dazzle to the a wardrobe.
