Stepping into the River Island Christmas press day I walked into a twinkling land of black and gold glitter, with rows of wonderfully decadent clothes with so many exquisite details to take in. Christmas is always a fantastic opportunity to bring out the sequins but here they were darkly glamorous and seductive.
This didn't feel like a high street store but a high fashion experience, nodding to key catwalk trends. There's a high dose of opulent baroque embellishment as well as roaring 1920s style, as if the clothes had come straight out of one of Jay Gatsby's infamous parties. Even the sports luxe pieces looked ready for a sparkling night on the town.
One major highlight of the collection was most definitely the jewellery, which came into a league of its own with extravagant necklaces reaching from shoulder to shoulder. Even the knitwear was encrusted with chunky jewels in this collection filled with intriguing textures which I couldn't help but reach out to stroke.
This magpie is really looking forward to seeing the gorgeously full skirts and statement jewellery hitting the shops, but what has caught your eye?
