It's always lovely to hear stories of bloggers 'done good', and that was one of the reasons why I was so delighted to find out about DIY Fashionista, a book by Geneva Vanderzeil of A Pair & A Spare and published by Carlton. Geneva harbours a massive love of DIY which has translated beautifully into a book with 40 stylish projects to re-invent and update your wardrobe.
Her passion is clearly evident and I like how the book starts with a gentle introduction including sourcing materials and getting to grips with a sewing machine. The projects are graded with one to five cute little scissor symbols from simple but statement fixes to major works of sewing, so there's a really nice variety to get your teeth into. The aim is to fill your wardrobe with lovely things that you'll really enjoy wearing without blowing the budget. The instructions are unintimidating and the steps are set out with pictures in a manner that's easy to follow.
I'm so grateful Carlton kindly sent me this lovely book to review as even on the first flick through my fingers were already itching to get creative. The presentation is sleek and the hardback cover satisfyingly chunky without being too heavy. DIY Fashionista offers so much inspiration and many a helpful hint, making it a wonderful fashionable bookshelf addition and also a gorgeous gift.
