It was on a windy afternoon in February when Ekaterina Kukhareva's SS13 collection brightened up London Fashion Week, and now the Winter chill has well and truly set in, but doesn't that make a sunny daydream all the more glorious? This glamorous collection is sweet but also a little saucy, inspired by 60s icon Brigitte Bardot lounging in St. Tropez.
Kukhareva specialises in knitwear, which really shows through in the beautiful fabrics in this collection. Soft industrial pleating perfectly complements ribbed knits and each fabric leaves a desire to take a closer look at the intricately woven detail creating intriguing shapes and textures. I really love the Intarsias, created with a complex knitting technique which creates depth within the fabrics. The exotic feeling prints were inspired by geometric shapes, mosaics and the birds' wings found in ancient Egyptian paintings.
The collection was accessorised beautifully with ornate sunglasses, chic little scarves tied round the head, fringed clutch bags and statement earrings. Then let's not forget the ultimate Summer lounging accessory- the wide brimmed hat. The hair was bouffant and the eye make up smoldering with a subtly coloured flick to recreate that Bardot allure.
Kukhareva's enchanting muse has a timeless easy elegance which here translates wonderfully into a happy, carefree collection- perfect for the beach and glamorous Summer adventures.
