Always be yourself.
Unless you can be a unicorn,
then always be a unicorn. The exhibitions at London Fashion Week offer a treasure trove of delights, waiting to be discovered and whisk you off to a far prettier world. My absolute favourite gem of the week has to be Sophia Webster's incredible unicorn bag. You may have noticed my penchant, well maybe obsession, for My Little Pony and all things sparkly by now so it's pretty much the most awesome bag to have ever existed. Oversized in two tone metallic pink, the clever design is gorgeous, and it quite simply puts a huge smile on my face! It also comes in glitter and a rainbow of other shiny shades as well as in a smaller, though no less fabulous, size.
Having graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2010 Webster went on to work as design assistant to shoe maker extraordinaire Nicholas Kirkwood. She presented at the last London Fashion Week to huge acclaim, and it's not hard to see why looking at her beautiful designs which are so full of character. For me her shoes strike the perfect balance of timeless elegance and tremendous fun. When investing in accessories for me the most important thing is that it makes you ridiculously happy and puts a spring in your step, and all these designs do just that.
The materials used offered an intriguing mix from holographic silvers to perspex. Meanwhile a pretty rose print was juxtaposed against a striking stripe, and whilst sweet little polka dots and hearts were cute, and sphere details satisfyingly chunky, the collection also featured zingy zig zags and pointed toes.
It's safe to say I'm rather besotted with this collection, from the clever cut out forms of the shoes to the adorable booties, and let's not forget those amazing unicorn bags! Sophia Webster is an incredibly exciting new talent and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
