This collection is dedicated to the secret few
who know that nothing is more fashionable
than just being yourself... - Tahir Sultan
Tahir Sultan's SS13 show exuded glamour at every turn, from sharp takes on luxurious sportswear to gorgeous Grecian goddess gowns. The Kuwaiti designer teamed up with jeweller Pallavi to create a striking range of jewellery which perfectly complimented the highly alluring feel of the clothes.
I was particularly enamoured with the dreamy draping in those stunning full length dresses- perfect for sashaying up a red carpet or simply making the world your catwalk. There was a beguiling movement to the garments- emphasising the wearer's natural grace- with feathers and fringing adding to the mesmerising effect. This soft femininity was contrasted with spiked hardwear, smart tailoring and statement shoulders, and there were gorgeous juxtapositions of texture within the looks.
Whilst the collection was anchored in timeless blacks, whites and greys, flashes of neon shades felt incredibly fresh and I particularly loved the vibrant pinks and oranges together. Sultan's SS13 vision had a wonderful natural ease about it, with versatile pieces perfect for the modern woman, but kept a timeless elegance that is always in style. I'm certainly intrigued to see where this aesthetic will take him next!
