Hello lovely readers, I haven't completely gone back to my exam time posting ways but I have been away on a wonderful trip to London, taking along my friend Emma who you see below, and so have been offline. On the first day of our trip we actually left the city and joined a group of friends to see Donizetti's L'Elisir D'Amore at Glyndebourne Opera Festival.
Upon arrival at Glyndebourne we headed for a scrumptious afternoon tea. The opera also has an unusually long interval allowing opera goers to go for dinner at the restaurant or have a picnic out in the garden surrounded by stunning countryside. Picnics are marvelous things on sunny days, however, English weather kicked in with a little rain and the evening was slightly damp. Despite the weather's efforts we did have a lovely meal though.
The music of the opera itself is absolutely beautiful and the standard of singing was exceptional, I enjoyed the performance immensely and still have the tunes going round my head!
When visiting Glyndebourne for the opera there is a black tie dress code, one can change there but travelling was made vastly more interesting and fun by the fact we were all already dressed.
