Today marks four years of blogging here at Intrinsically Florrie, how time has flown! I started this blog at a time when I was barely able to concentrate at my laptop for half an hour a day, sitting in bed recovering from a head injury, and I never imagined all the wonderful things it would bring me, from lovely friends to amazing opportunities. Blogging's something that's become such a huge part of my world and I'll confess it's hard to imagine life without it. I really appreciate my readers and your comments always brighten up my day! Naturally, in honour of the occasion an adorable Hello Kitty balloon and pretty celebration cake were required! This year's cake featured a sweet little ladybird from Marks and Spencer.
It has been wonderfully sunny, and I brought out a gorgeous new pair of Irregular Choice shoes, which are so wonderfully cheerful in colour, with embroidered details and scalloped edges that are just so pretty alongside the stunning acetate heel!

Loveless: Meadham Kirchhoff X Amazon.co.uk

For me one of the most exciting design talents on the catwalks at the moment is the dazzling duo of Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff. There's something so enchanting about all their collections, from their super kawaii pastel confectionery of SS12, complete with smiling heart aprons perfect for fairy kei, to the exquisite historically inspired embellishment of SS13 with rows of Rococo-esque bows.
With my fangirling heightened as such, you can imagine my glee when I found out about their exclusive sweatshirt collaboration with Amazon.co.uk and was kindly given a sample for my own wardrobe. Next time I think I'll play up the juxtaposition of the casual and the elegant further with an OTT costume jewellery necklace and maybe take afternoon tea.
Each design within the collaboration, which can be found here, captures a little something of that unique Meadham Kirchhoff magic and sense of joy.

Baroque

One of my favourite recent trends in fashion, both on the catwalks and the high street, is Baroque. It's an opulent trend harking back to a time of grandeur in the history of art.
I was kindly offered the chance to review a piece from Fuse Fashion, an exciting new e-boutique which launched in November. Fuse hosts a lovely range of exciting labels including beautiful plus size and maternity fashion ranges. In the jackets section I loved how the brand Beloved was taking the Baroque trend and creating some gorgeous cropped jackets that were just that extra bit fabulous to make chilly days a bit more special.
I thought the look would be especially lovely combined with lolita fashion, as of course the Japanese street style I so love is itself inspired by historical costume. The details on the jacket from the zips on the sleeves to the little epaulettes on the shoulders are so lovely, but it's the layer of gorgeous lace that really makes this a striking piece- perfect for adding a little luxury to your wardrobe.

Sparkles at Selfridges

Whilst it may have been a SS13 trend presentation I attended at Selfridges in the Bullring, Birmingham last week, this magpie gets easily distracted and there were so many sparkly things in store, showcasing my favourite trend of the season.
Down on the ground floor Paperchase delighted as ever with its cheerful coloured Christmas trees (my little neon pink one is up again this year) and the new range of animal baubles is so full of character you can't help but grin at them.
Then there were the accessories! From Ted Baker to Jimmy Choo and Vivienne Westwood X Melissa to Dune these goodies are sure to dazzle whether you pick out a glitterfied clutch or make like Dorothy and add a sequinned spring to your step.

Festival Fashion: Give It Some Wellie

For me the festival fashion aesthetic has always been about having fun, and whilst having an awesome time with friends the festival is the perfect time to experiment a little with your look, so dig out a floral garland and add a sprinkle of glitter eyeshadow. Where the good old British weather and fields are concerned however, there's one thing that shouldn't be overlooked- the classic wellington boot!
I still remember spotting my trusty floral Joules wellies on the way to a bead fair for my 14th birthday. I was immediately taken with the colourful floral print, which adds cheer to any murky day. Six and a half years on they're seen me through many adventures and are still going strong.
Whilst the wellie is naturally a practical festival fashion item there's no need for it to be boring! So I've picked out some of my favourites from the current selection of Joules wellies that will make a gorgeous fashion statement as well as keeping your feet warm and cosy from the mud.

Joules' classic wellies come in all sorts of cute prints from nautical stripes to sweet polka dots and even an amazing dog print which makes me smile. My personal favourites are the glossy pink finish and also the navy floral print as it's rather beautiful. Then there's something about the lace up version which is so elegant and the short 'wellibob' cut is both adorable and practical for other occasions and outfits.

By The Seaside

A couple of weeks ago I headed to Llandudno in North Wales for a breezy day at the seaside with my parents. Its a location I've visited many times over my childhood so it holds a lot of nostalgia for me. We started the day on the sunny prom and I made a quick shopping spree before lunch on the West Shore, stocking up on tempting craft supplies and also finding an adorable My Little Pony I couldn't bare to leave in a charity shop- she's a generation three Pinkie Pie and I think rather cute.
Around town I spotted some intriguing Alice in Wonderland carvings by Simon Hedger, depicting the White Rabbit, the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter and Alice herself, though she looks somewhat grumpy having drunk from a certain bottle labelled Drink Me. 
I was a little sad when the Invalid Walk towards Haulfre Gardens on the Great Orme defeated my ankles and knees which were suffering from a fibromyalgia flare up, but my dad drove me up to the cafe to indulge in an ice cream and then we headed to the pier, which is filled with treasures including a Hello Kitty car ride! Our day finished at the top of the Great Orme with a picnic and oh the sunshine was glorious! Llandudno's such a lovely town and I really enjoyed my day.

Ladurée Larks

I had a really wonderful time in London today. Having been invited to the Dune Group press day I arranged to meet up with a lovely friend beforehand and we headed on an adventure to see the BP Portrait Award exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery which offers an intriguing mix of artistic styles. Afterwards we set off in search of scrummy refreshment, and maybe it was my Macaron Towers Bodyline skirt but somehow I felt in the mood for Ladurée!
If I'm honest I've been craving the beautiful Saint-Honoré Rose pastry ever since I first tasted its creamy goodness back in March as it is simply divine, then the roasting weather called for ice tea. Meanwhile my delightful companion opted for a salad which we weren't expecting to come in such a generous portion! She also had a rose milkshake and it was extremely yummy- oh I do love Ladurée! Everything they make is both delectable and oh so photogenic.

Funnily enough the only festivals I've ever been to have involved classical music and cosy numbered seats, but there's always been that appeal to grab my Cath Kidston tent and dress up for an outdoor one. So when  George at ASDA got in touch to ask me to pick something out to style a Summer festival look I gladly took up the challenge and headed to my local countryside.
George have been doing such lovely things this Summer including some really cute ladies tops and I love the fun polka dots and little Peter Pan collar on this jersey one. I decided to play with pattern mixing for my festival look and got my floral on. A mac is somewhat of a festival essential and I really love the pretty pastel colours and floral print on this George one! It folds up very neatly into the pocket too which is handy for if the sun decides to make an appearance. I really like the emphasis on the waist for a more elegant silhouette than other macs I've had. I also picked out some sweet little gem earrings in rich jewel colours to add a little sparkle to any muddy field.
