Autumn Array

Heading out on early morning adventures recently, there's been a definite Autumn chill in the air that's left me shivering on the breezy train platform and thinking that I really need to be stocking up on some cosy pieces for layering as the weather gets colder. In Birmingham today, I really liked the homely feel of the New Look windows, and especially the rustic swings. With so many lovely things in the shops at the moment I've decided to put together a shopping list of ones I could do with adding to my wardrobe for the coming chill:
♥ Firstly a new coat which can handle fitting the poof factor of a lolita petticoat underneath it. I love my burgundy New Look one with its shiny gold buttons which I bought a couple of years ago and has a lovely flare to it, but would also like a softer colour to go with my pastel dresses.
♥ I've been feeling the urge to expand my sweater collection recently- there's just something so cosy about their long sleeves! My criteria? They must be both snuggly and cute.
♥ Scarves are an essential for the colder months and I could do with a little more variety of colour and weight. I really need to stop neglecting my poor little hands too and buy some pretty pastel gloves.
♥ I do have a weakness for sweet but practical ankle boots and these black Chelsea boots, complete with a satisfyingly chunky wood effect heel, are both chic and versatile.
♥ I'm a complete and utter tights addict and I very much want to add some jewel colours into the mix.
♥ Berets have been much neglected in my hat wardrobe but I keep seeing them styled in really cute ways to finish off lolita coords, so I'd like to try out one of my own.

Festival Fancies

Festival season is upon us and Coachella-goers have already treated us to some fabulous street style. Festivals are the perfect opportunity to have fun with trends from romantic florals to vibrant citrus shades and  flashes of neon. Personally I'm loving the surge of 90s revival clothes as they're just so cheerful and remind me how much I loved my childhood wardrobe!
This last week has been gloriously sunny but let's not forget the great British weather and the very high chances of the fields soon turning into a sticky situation ankle deep in mud! High Street Hits: Spring Bling

From pretty-as-a-princess pastels to flashes of vivid neon, the new season jewellery pieces are all about having fun. Without spending too much, the statement accessory has the power to change your outfit as well as put a smile on your face. I'm rather besotted with chunky gems and intriguing hints of perspex I've been spying, particularly perhaps the opulent bejewelled necklaces which capture a little of the decadence of centuries past. The most appropriate footwear for the thick, crunchy layer of snow outside might well be wellington boots, but isn't it supposed to be Spring? Cats are a definite favourite in Japanese street style from Muchacha Achachumu iconic tote bags in Cult Party Kei to the furore over Angelic Pretty's Cat's Tea Party print in collaboration with illustrator Imai Kira in lolita fashion. High Street Hits: Arm Candy

I have always been a bag girl. Whether you're wearing a dress or jeans the bag is an accessory with the power to change an outfit and fill you with glee, which is always good with me! No matter how horrendous your bad hair day might be, a fabulous handbag will never let you down. The new season fashion trends seem to have brought some really lovely ones to the high street, especially satisfyingly boxy structures and a whole menagerie of bright and beautiful colours for Summer from pastels to neons. Below are some of  my favourites I've been spying this week.
I've also spotted some wonderfully cheerful plus size clothing for Summer. The sunny months will be perfect for showing off fun and vivacious prints as well as bright block colours with pretty details from pleats to a intricate crochet trim- no more hiding beautiful dresses under Winter coats!

High Street Hits: Cinderella Shoes

Harrods have gone mad for Disney princesses at present with festive window displays featuring regal interpretations of these iconic muses  from celebrated fashion houses such as Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa, Valentino and Elie Saab.
In store they've also opened a dreamy Cinderella Slipper Salon; whether you have big or little feet why not see if the shoe fits for size! We can't let the children have all the fun can we? It looks quite the beautiful experience and I so wish I'd had the time to go and explore instead of being poorly this month. What's more, the stunning shoes range from £24.95 to £34.95 making them a rather affordable piece of magic.
I was also besotted with Miu Miu's gorgeous glitter shoes the moment they burst onto the scene in AW11. The beautifully sculpted heel turned timelessly pretty sparkle into a power piece. I wasn't the only fan and ever since I've loved the way all things sparkly have infiltrated the high street. So go out and create your own fairytale, just try not to lose a shoe on the way home...

High Street Hits: Winter Coats

Jack Frost has been to town and it's time to get the gloves out- boo! However, this does mean the perfect justification for a fabulous new coat and I love picking one which will brighten up the coldest of Winter days.
There are some beautifully rich jewel colours around on the high street at the moment and also some really lovely embellished details such as a beaded collar at Miss Selfridge, swirling embroidery at Uttam Boutique or adorable bows at ASOS's plus size fashion Curve range.

When did it get so chilly? Winter's round the corner and whilst I'm not quite in the mood to buy a thick coat yet a snuggly jumper seems to be the order of the day. From J.W. Anderson's iconic cartoon ghost jumper for Topshop to an adorable little bunny topped with a glittering headbow at New Look the high street's got some cute, quirky and gorgeous statement jumpers to make you smile and keep out the cold.

High Street Hits: Bunny Bananza

I really love spotting wild bunnies, and I'm lucky to live near an area where you can often spy them basking in the sun on a Summer's evening. However, though I love rabbits all year round they're most commonly associated with Spring as far as fashion is concerned. As much as I love Spring pastels bunnies are also a rather adorable motif for the colder months too, currently seen in a more natural, muted colour palette. About this time last year I spotted a really cute H! By Henry Holland bunny t-shirt in Debenhams and fell in love with it. Likewise the exact same thing has happened again this year, but this time featuring a bunny wrapped up all cosy and warm in a scarf. So I decided to investigate what other little furry friends are hopping their way into our wardrobes this Autumn/Winter...

Festival Floral Style

Funnily enough the only festivals I've ever been to have involved classical music and cosy numbered seats, but there's always been that appeal to grab my Cath Kidston tent and dress up for an outdoor one. So when  George at ASDA got in touch to ask me to pick something out to style a Summer festival look I gladly took up the challenge and headed to my local countryside.
George have been doing such lovely things this Summer including some really cute ladies tops and I love the fun polka dots and little Peter Pan collar on this jersey one. I decided to play with pattern mixing for my festival look and got my floral on. A mac is somewhat of a festival essential and I really love the pretty pastel colours and floral print on this George one! It folds up very neatly into the pocket too which is handy for if the sun decides to make an appearance. I really like the emphasis on the waist for a more elegant silhouette than other macs I've had. I also picked out some sweet little gem earrings in rich jewel colours to add a little sparkle to any muddy field.

Florrie's Floral Festivities Returns

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the third annual Florrie's Floral Festivities! My blog is approaching its third birthday and to celebrate I'm launching my floral festivities once more.

I'm inviting you all to join my virtual tea party and send me a link of yourself in your floral finest to be collected together in one major flower power blog post.
There are two shiny prizes involved. One goes to a most supremely floral outfit with the highest number of flowery things in. The other goes to my favourite outfit. I'll be picking out the prizes based on the winners' taste so that I can pick something they'll really enjoy wearing.
