High Street Hits: Summer Lovin' Sale Frocks

What do I love even more than a pretty dress? Why, a pretty dress that's in the sale! There are so many tempting treats on the high street, both in store and online, at the moment alongside wonderful discounts, so here are some of my favourite picks from the sales...

Treasure Trove: Phase Eight AW13

I was immediately mesmerised by three stunning full length looks from the exquisite Collection Eight upon entering the beautiful Phase Eight AW13 press day. They were absolutely breathtaking and just perfect for making a showstopping entrance.
The glittering treasure trove of evening and formal wear to be found was truly a magpie's delight. A decadent Baroque influence sat perfectly with the opulent feel of the new season, with curling gold motifs and clever tapestry effects. Then the elegance of traditional Japanase kimonos also inspired, with delicate leaf prints and statement obi belts. Attention to embellished detail perfectly finished off the beautiful clothes and I was constantly spotting lovely finishing touches, from ornate stitching patterns to shimmering beading, sequins, lace and elaborate embroidery.
The daywear selection was rather delightful alongside the luxurious occasion dresses. The Chatsworth selection was a particular favourite, with glamorous pieces worthy of a 1950s lady of the manor and rich floral prints; then Longleat offered a chic take on relaxed weekend dressing. I really loved the intriguing mix of fabrics, from structured tweeds to cosy knitwear.
I absolutely adore the ladylike way Phase Eight interprets trends to create fabulous pieces of clothing, and the accessories were divine too. There's something so romantic about them which captures the detail of eras past, and yet they are completely and utterly perfect for a very modern heroine.
