Shelly's Shoesday

London brand Shellys was founded in one of my favourite eras in fashion history, the late 1940s, and has been moving with the fashion times ever since, becoming the exclusive footwear provider to Mod band The Jam in the 1970s and creating collaborations with Katherine Hamnett, John Richmond, Vivienne Westwood and Jean-Paul Gaultier in the 1980s.

Shellys London are still creating fanciful footwear today and their rather lovely shoes capture a wonderful mix of classic styles and quirky fun. A ditsy floral plus ric rac trim the Frankie Wedge make an adorable combination for Summer days; meanwhile if you're looking for your very own Cinderella slippers for evening events, whether they be cocktails with friends or a masquerade ball, the shimmering glitter Tinkerbell court shoes are perfect for creating your very own fairy tale in. The traditional loafer is given a dreamy romantic twist in rosy pink canvas finished with a heart motif and also given a satisfyingly chunky heel using a fabric adorned with twinkling gold stars.

Shoesday: Laser Quest

Despite the lovely weather I've been feeling rather poorly this week, which means there's all the more reason to distract myself by looking at lovely shoes! One very pretty trend is that of laser cut decoration and it's perfect for the glorious sunny weather that's spreading cheer at the moment.
Using laser cutting can add fine little details to a shoe, or even make a huge impact in the design with bold shaping and cut outs. Rocket Dog's Pansy flats are embellished with feminine little flower motifs, whilst Shelly's Louise court shoes and adorable Confetti flats make use of fun geometric shapes, and both brands complement the shapes with a sweet scalloped edge.
Ash's Jessica boots remind me of intricately wrought iron, whilst Fru.it's complex Felid flats have the look of delicate lace. Bright berry and citrus shades are incredibly cheerful; meanwhile laser cutting completely transforms traditional shades of black and tan into something incredibly intriguing and beautiful.

Shoesday: Fabulous Flats

There's no denying that the humble flat shoe is very much an item of practicality, but that's no reason why it should not to be fabulous! Even at London Fashion Week when queuing for shows on the last hectic day I spied many a cosy flat shoe giving weary fashion feet a welcome rest. What's more they are perfect for heading on exciting adventures where high heels just can't tread- many apologies Victoria Beckham!
From relaxing countryside strolls to busy days exploring the city or even countries far away on exciting holidays, a lovely pair of flat shoes will see you far- keeping your feet both happy and looking good. I'm loving Rocket Dog's whimsical and ever so cheerful floral motifs, which remind me of hazy childhood afternoons spent earnestly making daisy chains, the longer the better; and also Melissa's fantastically sparkly glitter confections, which can add a little razzle dazzle to an every day outfit or complete a stunning look for a sparkly evening out.

High Street Hits: Step Into Spring

The most appropriate footwear for the thick, crunchy layer of snow outside might well be wellington boots, but isn't it supposed to be Spring? I love the influx of pastel tones and cheerful sunshine colours into the shops at this time of year and there are some seriously yummy shoes about.
