There's something about the allure of the shoe. For centuries we have contorted our feet and put our limbs through agony for the sake of a fabulous pair of heels. Footwear is a practicality of everyday life but is also a chance for a daydream fantasy. Let's face it some shoes are definitely not made for walking and some are so exquisitely beautiful you could barely dare to get a speck of dust on them!
For the sake of everyone who loves admiring divine shoes as much as I do I wanted to share Javari.co.uk presents ‘Shoes for Show: The Sculptural Art of High Heels’. The exhibition started today and I was kindly invited to a private view but sadly could not make it. However, it would have been selfish of me not to share!
The last day of the exhibition is only 8th November so you'll have to trot over pronto to take a peek. Open daily 11.00am - 7.00pm and 11.00am - 5.00pm Sunday, the free public exhibition is at the Loading Bay, 91 Brick Lane, London, E1 6QL and features one-off pairs loaned by the likes of Daphne Guinness, Nicholas Kirkwood, Christian Louboutin and Gareth Pugh!
There are shoes that are modern icons such as McQueen's Armadillo and Louboutin's SS12 collaboration with the English National Ballet, as seen above, featuring the ultimate skyscraper heel. Then there are the golden Pughs worn in a Beyonce music video. Going back to the 80s there are Vivienne Westwood's catwalk rocking horse shoes and then historic but no less extreme designs dating all the way back to 1851.
With themes based around the catwalk, couture and innovative design this looks like a really special exhibition to see, and if any of you do go I'd love to hear all about it!

Wow, this looks like a seriously amazing, if wince enducing exhibition. I think my poor feet would curl up at the thought of putting on some of those shoes, no matter how beautiful!
