The Tea Party Club lolita group caused somewhat of a stir today when well over 100 frilly lolitas descended upon the V&A museum to see the new Kitty and the Bulldog display. As I blogged last month, the exciting display is part of the British Design Season and looks at how British design has influenced the beautiful Japanese lolita street style.
I was so excited to go to today's meet and see the exhibition, and it didn't disappoint. It showcases popular lolita sub styles such as classic, sweet and gothic but also more unusual ones such as punk. The garments on display are from renowned lolita brands such as Baby the Stars Shine Bright and Moi-même-Moitié and as curator Rupert Faulkner said in the Hyper Japan event panel the craftsmanship is of an incredibly high quality. As we gazed through the glass there was some definite coveting occurring.
My favourite thing about lolita fashion is how happy it makes me. I will confess to not having been the happiest of bunnies under exam stress but as soon as I slipped on my wig and petticoat this morning I just wanted to twirl around in delight.
Thank you so much to Kyra of the Tea Party Club for organising the meet and to the V&A for being so accommodating to us today. I had the most wonderful time and am looking forward to visiting the exhibition again before it closes in January 2013. The V&A museum is open daily 10:00 – 17:45 and until 22:00 every Friday

What a wonderful sounding exhibition! Glad you had a good time - I think the most important thing about any fashion is that it makes you happy - if it doesn't then you are doing it wrong!
