Celebrating the marvelous milliner's 10th season, the pieces in Piers Atkinson's SS13 collection are bigger and bolder than ever before. The huge iconic cherries loved by Anna Dello Russo are back and more dazzling than ever, remodeled into Hyper Cherries Mk II. I was lucky enough to spy this Director's Cut capsule exhibition as part of Headonism at Somerset House during London Fashion Week and the hats on show were such a delight!
Soft pink was strongly present, the perfect romantic shade for a glamorous collection inspired by The Goddesses of the Silver Screen. This wonderfully feminine aesthetic was epitomized in my favourite piece featuring magnificent pink ostrich plumes sprinkled with shining stars and centred around a beautiful silk rose, full in bloom.
Whilst another delectable, pink fluffy concoction naturally caught my eye, a bejwelled beetle returned to majestically tower over the scene, paired this season with a moody black veil. Then there was such an elegant wide brimmed hat on which I absolutely loved the laser-cut organza detailing featuring delicate flowers and stars.
The textures throughout Piers Atkinson's work are exquisite so I yearn to reach out and touch them all! The hats look like they would be such incredible fun to wear and perfectly capture the dreamy nature of Hollywood's Silver Screen vision, transporting us back to a supremely glamourous time.
