The Mad Hatter's Halloween Tea Party

Yesterday I showed you my fairy outfit for a spooky Halloween themed tea party at the Mad Hatters in Chester, today it's time for the incredible food itself. The tea rooms were an utter delight, decorated beautifully with Alice in Wonderland references: from the welcoming Chesire Cat grin to the beautiful menus encased in wooden playing card designs.
Inside everything had taken an eerie turn for Halloween, including some rather gruesome additions to the afternoon tea menu from bat cookies and pumpkin macarons to cakes shaped like gory fingers and brains. What started with a couple of cake stands continued with exciting arrivals of all kinds of ghoulish treats. The ghost shaped scones arrived first, still warm and extremely scrumptious- even though covering them in green cream felt a little unnerving at first all was forgotten as soon as its yumminess was tasted!
You got plenty for your money at this special afternoon tea and it all tasted so good, inducing more than a few sugar highs! It's definitely somewhere I'd go again for a pot of tea and a cupcake when in Chester and it makes such a lovely venue for special occasions too.
