My love of vintage and historical fashion began through the world of fine art, with a father owning shelf upon shelf of curious books containing page upon page of beautiful paintings. It's something that fascinates me to this day and I'd really like to learn about different eras.
I was kindly offered the chance to review a copy of 1930s Fashion: The Definitive Sourcebook, a sumptuous tome edited by Charlotte Fiell and Emmanuelle Dirix and published by Goodman Fiell. An introductory essay by Dirix offers a fascinating glimpse into the trends throughout the era and there are over 600 original photographs, sketches and prints to immerse yourself in. The volume of beautifully printed illustrations really makes the book special. Being the millinery geek I am I particularly love the the section devoted to fabulous headwear.
1930s Fashion: The Definitive Sourcebook has an RRP of £30 and is available at Carlton Books, Amazon and all good book stores. It's a really gorgeous book which would make a really lovely present and offers a wonderful world of fashion inspiration whether you'd love to find out more about the era or simply want to slip away into a world of elegance and high glamour.
