The absolutely stunning À La Disposition presentation at London Fashion Week was set within the incredible walls of the Royal Opera House. Walking in was like stepping into a giant tinkling musical box, a feeling amplified by the mannequins placed upon spinning podiums. Though in two very different decorative styles, the decadent walls complemented the sheer attention to detail seen in the beautiful garments.
Once again I was blown away by the innovative pattern cutting of husband and wife team Daniel and Lynda Kinne. Whilst possessing a classic, vintage feeling the shapes created in these pieces are so spectacular and no one has a way with fabric quite like this pair.
M!sf!t Toys is the perfect name for this collection as it has such a wonderfully playful, childlike wonder to it whilst the proportions play away from the norm. The clothes are incredibly complex pieces, each with their own quirky charm which, like a much loved toy, I grow fonder of each time I look at the images.
I particularly love the statement oversized bubble skirts to almost Rococo era proportions. À La Disposition certainly shares a lot of values with the period clothes of centuries past: a luxurious extravagance, an elegant refinement and a keen attention to detail. Their clothes are a joy to behold and I'm really excited to see what the duo have instore next.
