It was back in the Autumn 2011 I wrote a blog post titled Can you put a price on pain? for Migraine Awareness Week. I've suffered with chronic migraines since I was nine years old and since a head injury in 2007 have been left in constant pain, to the point when I can't remember being well. Migraines are incredibly debilitating and miserable, and over time they've become so terribly draining they've had a huge impact on my life.
A few years ago botox treatment emerged as a treatment for chronic migraines, not completely eradicating them but vastly improving pain levels and decreasing their frequency. However, no sooner had it arrived than funding seemed to vanish into thin air, leaving me lost at sea once more.
This Autumn I managed to get an appointment with a wonderful specialist- a friend aptly called him a migraine jousting knight- who applied for special funding for my case, which brings us to now. I've been in somewhat of a state of shock since yesterday afternoon when I heard on the phone news so wonderful I can barely believe it- the funding has actually been granted. I couldn't stop crying and today I still keep feeling the urge to check with my mum that it's actually true.
I'm playing the waiting list game now and there's no guarantee the treatment will suit me, but if it does it will make such a huge difference in my life. This Summer I'll also be embarking on a pain management course in the hope of lessening the pain and impact of my fibromyalgia, and I feel that for the first time in a very long while things are miraculously moving in the right direction for me and this malfunctioning body of mine.

Where did you get that cake, btw?!
I got it at my local Tesco but it isn't own brand so maybe it will be in other supermarkets too :)
