Shoesday: Dr. Martens

On the 1st April 1960 a mega brand was born, the brainchild of pioneering footwear creators Dr. Maertens and Dr. Funck, who had a snazzy new air-cushioned sole invention, and the Griggs family of Northampton. Over 50 years later and the Dr. Martens 1460 boot remains instantly recognisable.
The Dr. Martens style was triumphed by rebellious youth cultures and still adds a punch of attitude to any look. The iconic shape makes a canvas for ever changing exciting new prints and finishes, from the metallic ankle boots to the juxtaposition of a ditsy floral print with that chunky sole seen on the Vintage Bouquet print boots.
For the upcoming Autumn season Dr. Martens have lots of beautiful berry tones in store, whether in smooth leather or shimmering velvet. Dr. Martens also look amazing paired with kawaii Japanese street styles, and J-Pop star Kyary Pamyu Pamyu paired her neon pink pair with oversized frilly socks in her famous Ponponpon music video.
Do you own Dr Martens, and if so how do you wear them?
