Bags of Joy: House of Fraser AW13

There were so many beautiful clothes at the incredible House of Fraser AW13 press day, and I'm really looking forward to including them in a blog post, but I couldn't help but be distracted by the delectable pick 'n' mix of handbags! You may have noticed over the years that I've got a bit, well a lot, of a bag habit, and when shopping in store at House of Fraser I always love exploring the delights of the accessories department.
Rich berry colours were rife and amongst the day bags there was many a satisfyingly chunky style, from a power-bag by Michael Kors to a cute little satchel by Missoni. Meanwhile Orla Kiely's floral confections provided retro delight and Biba's iconic logo looked fabulous with metallic embellishment. Then the Lulu Guinness line remained wonderfully fun as ever, from glamorous lip motifs to a statement eye clutch. When it came to evening bags the future looks fabulously sparkly, and one of my favourites contrasted sleek red velvet with beautiful oversized diamante, leaving a twinkle in my eye.
So which of these gorgeous House of Fraser beauties would you like on your arm this coming Autumn/Winter?

Sweet Treat: Mulberry Ice Cream Windows

How sweet are the new season Mulberry window displays? The treats at their SS12 show certainly caused a buzz at London Fashion Week and the new displays don't disappoint. I must admit I am rather partial to yummy ice cream all year round, but there's nothing like a crisp new whippy cone in the sun. I'm craving a trip to the seaside already! The new Harriet Satchels I spied at the Brompton Road store are rather gorgeous as well- just the thing to daydream about in the current frosty weather here! What are you looking forward to about Summer? 

Mulberry window: Tweet Tweet

Do you think I should just go live in Floral Street, Covent Garden? It's name could not be better suited to me and the vicinity has the most delightful shops.
Mulberry always create eye-catching window displays and as a country girl I am especially fond of the current ones for AW11. If only gorgeous handbags grew in the lanes by my village! The giant spotted mushrooms are whimsical but it's those little birds I adore, including the print on that 'birdsnest'. I have such a thing for scarves and it is so cute! Very soft and snuggly too. I'm also a little besotted with the pink/purple handbag which I believe is a drawsting Tillie shoulder bag? It certainly looks like the Birds Nest Maxi Grain Nubuck one on the website, except in a more 'Florrie' colour, but then I always do seem to be drawn to pink bags.

The Brum Blogger Meet

Yesterday I headed to the Brum Blogger Meet, a fabulous day organised by Fritha of The Fish Tank and Claire of the Jazzpad. I wore my Holly Willoughby for Very.co.uk dress, H&M scarf and dove print cardigan, New Look shoes (looking and feeling a little worse for wear after getting soaked in Manchester last weekend), Mulberry Roxanne bag, Dorothy Perkins tights, Tu at Sainsburys coat and some Miss Selfridge earrings for the occasion.

It was wonderful to meet so many lovely girls who I feel like I've known on Twitter and through blogs for so long. I started off with the group of vintage hunters who were destined for Cow and a really cheap shop along the way which I don't know the name of. The adventure led to the procurement of two lovely dresses so I will photograph them for another post. One is truly a fairytale frock.

Hattie of Inside the Mind of a Disco Ball and I were Luella twins when along with Rebecca of It's Cohen we headed off to T K Maxx in search of Luella SS09 goodness. Thank you to both of them for the photographs in this post which I obviously didn't take myself! A lot of the Luella I saw on a previous trip is now gone but there are some dresses left. They are still moderately expensive at £199, which is all very well if it fits you perfectly and you have an occasion for it. Look at that lovely floral detail on the back!

Hattie has a polka dot addiction, and also some name sticker issues, but I think we all had some of those.



We were set a few challenges, one of which was to find the most extravagant hat or hair accessory. I am a great lover of millinery, despite my overly large head getting in the way sometimes, so this was just my sort of challenge. I am so happy to have won with the extravagant red fluffy feather creation, which looked like a huge flower, from Debenhams. This means I got a prize, and it could not be more 'me'. The Little Fille Daisy headband is the cutest thing in pastel tones and with a floral bow.

Everyone united for the evening meal as we headed to Red Peppers within the Mailbox.



We bloggers were truly spoilt with the goodies provided for us. Many thanks to all the awesome companies who made the day that extra bit special, they are: Jon Richard, Max C London, Romwe, Motel Rocks, So Charming, Missguided, Find Me a Gift, Crown and Glory, Little Fille and Clothing at Tesco. I feel like such a lucky girl.

Thank you to Fritha and Claire again and all the other girls. I had such a wonderful day and my only complaint is that I didn't get to talk to more of you for longer.

Intrinsically Florrie's Second Blogoversary!

Today Intrinsically Florrie turned two years old! I like to think I've come on from my first post. I've loved what blogging has brought into my life and the last two years have been amazing. I've been making a few changes to the blog recently such as my shiny new About Me page and I've finally learnt how to make all of my images the same width! Immediate plans for the future involve a new header that will stretch all the way across the three columns and a Press/Mentions page. A huge thank you to everyone who reads my ramblings!
However today of all days I'm having a technical hitch in that Picnik, the website I edit my photos on, is down. I've tried really hard over time to improve my general photo and post quality but I refuse to not blog on my blogoversary so Windows Photo Gallery it is!
This blog post has actually been a bit of a nightmare to get published but I can say I've learnt a lot about html errors along the way! I'm quite amazed I've got it up and it's technically still my blogoversary and not tomorrow.

Having a merry little Christmas, complete with handmade Hello Kitty decorations and an acid pink tree

Here are some pictures of some cute things that made up my Christmas day.
Firstly some ever so sweet bunny crackers which I bought at the local PDSA charity shop from their new products range:

Whilst I was ill recently I sat and made Hello Kitty decorations like the child I really am underneath my 18 year old facade.
I found the images online and printed them off on card. Then a hole-puncher, ribbons, glitter and gems were necessary. Here are some of the ones I added to the tree in our sitting room:

Now for the tree in my bedroom: 2ft of acid pinkness that I could not resist in Paperchase within Selfridges Birmingham despite the prospect of carrying it round all day making manouvres round stands somewhat tricky and bringing it home on the train. I continued the pink theme in Paperchase with some glittery bows, they do clash a little but I do love mixing colours unexpectedly. I then found the tinsel pom poms in Poundland and I think the little baubles were from Tesco.
This time I went for a angel theme with my handmande Hello Kitty decorations.
